Get Connected: Blogging and Social Networking for Writers
It’s crucial for modern writers to have online presences even
before their first publications. Blogging, micro blogging and social and business networking all offer
opportunities for writers to connect with readers, editors, agents and more. But with so much of the Web
changing every day it can be hard for writers to know where to start, and how to grow, their online homes.
This course will deliver an introduction to social media for
writers including blogs, micro blog sites, social networking pages and business networking accounts. In four
one-week sessions writers will learn how to plan a social media strategy, set up social media accounts, keep
online content fresh, get connected online and even make money from their online endeavours. Each week will
include an email lecture, Web reading recommendations and activities to be submitted for tutor review. Writers
who take advantage of all activities will have created a blog and several networking accounts at the end of this
course.
