 Sheila Crowley

Literary Agent Sheila Crowley began her career in publishing at Poolbeg in Dublin before moving to the UK in 1991, and went on to hold several key positions in sales and marketing at Harper Collins, Reed, Hodder & Stoughton and most recently as Literary Director of AP Watt Ltd.

Sheila has a very broad knowledge of the UK and international markets, and has masterminded many No.1 best-sellers.

She focuses primarily on women’s commercial fiction, thrillers, mbs (mind, body, spirit), sport and celebrity books, young adult and children's fiction and general mass-market non-fiction.

Sheila, who moved from Hodder to become a literary agent, joined Curtis Brown from AP Watt on 1st September 2008.

Most of Sheila's authors have moved with her and Sheila said "after five successful years building my author list, I felt the time was right to move to a bigger agency and one that would embrace the more commercial angle of the authors I represent. It is a challenging time in the industry but there is a real ‘buzz’ at Curtis Brown who recently attracted major bestselling authors to the agency, and I know that my authors and I will benefit from the move.”.

Jonny Geller of Curtis Brown said “We are all very excited to welcome Sheila with her wealth of experience in publishing and agenting. She will be a fabulous addition to our team and we look forward to welcoming her amazing list of authors.”

Some of the authors moving include

  • Tasmina Perry
  • Jojo Moyes
  • Santa Montefiore
  • Melissa Hill
  • Rachel Hore
  • Alison Kervin
  • Shari Low
  • Kitty Sewell
